Short Story Paris

Paris – the city of love. Spend your nights in one of the many romantic hotels deluxe of the town or marry straightaway in Paris! There might not be any other metropolis in the world that stands so much for romantic, class and culture as Paris.

Immerse in a town that has to offer so much. Amble off the beaten tourism track in small alleyways on the Montmartre. A wonderful view over the town often appears unexpected. Enter a small cafe and enjoy the unique atmosphere. Buy yourself a bottle of red wine and two beakers in one of the small shops. On top of the stairs in front of the church Sacré-Coeur you can dwell there sitting and enjoy your wine and let your view ramble over the roofs of the town together with the Parisians.

Apropos view – from the roof terrace of the Samaritaine store you can combine a view on Notre – Dame and the bridges with a cup of tea or coffee. From here did Jason Bourne already check his followers up in the Blockbuster “The Bourne Identity“. Or you go about it right away and undertake an excursion the town’s landmark. You get to the different floors of the Eiffel Tower by an inclined elevator. The view is magnificent. From the highest platform you can see up to 70 km into the countryside if the weather is good. If you are a good walker, you can try it and climb up the 1652 stairs of the tower. On the second floor of the Eiffel Tower you find one of the best restaurants of Paris, the Jules Verne – with its own elevator. If you want to eat here, think of the fact that you have to make a reservation six to 10 weeks ahead (depending on the season). But you can enjoy a delicious meal at other locations of the town as well. At the Place du Terte dominates a pleasant atmosphere. Here you can sit down in one of the cosy locals around the plaza and watch the promenaders that are passing by.

Visit on of the shows in the Moulin Rouge and amble afterwards through the nightclub district Pigalle that is with its Boulevard de Clichy famous for sex shops and prostitutes. The Notre Dame cathedral should be famous worldwide. Either it is because of the novel from Victor Hugo or because of the exposed location at the Ile de la Cite or because of its architectural characteristics as for example the main facade with its three portals, the edgeless towers and three marvellous rose windows that reflect the transition from Early Gothic period to the High Gothic one might never be said with definiteness. Just take a walk through the wonderful Jardin des Tuileries or on the world wide famous Avenue des Champs-Elysées. Have a look around in the boutiques and stores on the right and left side. Drink a coffee in one of the uncountable street cafés and stroll on to the Arc de Triumphe. In the Champs-Elysées- district you will find almost all fashion boutiques. Visit the longest building of Europe that houses the most famous picture gallery of the world – the Louvre. This bulky palace of the renaissance times with breathtaking measures with its 65300 exhibits in the heart of the town should impress everyone even an art sourpuss. Take your time and only one part of the Musée du Louvre. This exhibition has got more to offer than just the Mona Lisa by da Vinci, the Venus by Milo and the aliferous Nike by Samothrake.

There are so many things to see in this metropolis may it be the Palais Royal, the Musée d´Orsay or the Centre National d´Art Georges Pompidou just naming three additional highlights. You should feel especially comfortable in one of the most beautiful districts of Paris, the Marais that is situated between the third and fourth Arrondissement. In the renaissance- and baroque period the upper class settled down here and had the hotels, town palais with wonderful gardens and magnificent portals built. Those partly still exist today. In the rococo period most of the upper class people moved to Faubourg Saint-Germain or Versailles und the Marais district underwent its downfall. Many trade and repair businesses evolved then and the French Revolution added her part to the devastation of the district. Only 50 years ago the city fathers bestirred their selves with the preservation of this wonderful old city centre of Paris. Today a lot goes on during the day and night. A lot of young people like to spend their time her. At every corner street performers follow their pleasure. In warm summer nights you can take part in an impressive street performance against the background of gorgeous house front. Amble to the Seine afterwards and listen to the water no matter whether at the affixed bank or from a dinner ship.

You reach the city of love by car, by train or by aeroplane. We recommend taking the plane because it is the fastest and meanwhile cheapest way. With easyjet or Air Berlin you fly for less than 100 € bidirectional. In Paris we can recommend the Metro as a means of transport because it is fast and favourable too. Besides, in the Metro you can get a good impression of the people that live in Paris.

Concerning hotels you are spoilt for choice. The best is to fix your price limit ahead of your hotel search. Because of the many sights in Paris it is recommendable to have a good wellness area in the hotel, to bring your muscles to shape again. It is also good to know before which district you prefer. You can constrain you search then. You find the offers in our Overview of Hotels, in the internet or in the town tour catalogues of the big all expense providers.
