Short Story Seychelles
Those 117 tropical islands of dreams in the middle of the Indian Ocean are located 8,000 km and nearly 9 hours by plane from Amsterdam or Stockholm away. Each dream calendar with picture-book beaches is always showing pictures of the Seychelles. If you will be at one of these beaches, you will be impressed by this view – word of honour ;)
Even when you travel by plane to Mahé you will understand why the main island is called “Ile d’Abondance” by the first setters in the 18th century. Ile d’Abondance means Island of plenty. It is an incomparable view, if you see the first green mountain tops in the breath of the Indian Ocean, then the amply tropical vegetation and sand beaches with palms and their typical granite formations. The Inner Islands, the already mentioned granite islands with a lot of vegetations and high mountains, arrange themselves to the main island Mahé. On the other hand, the Outer Islands are flat coral atolls with beautiful islands.

If you think to the Seychelles, you also think on luxury, which can be enjoyed only by a few people. This is only the half truth. It is correct that the Seychelles are very expensive. It is also correct, that that there is no mass tourism, which is also the charm of these beautiful islands. The government protects the moderate clear tourism, in which nature conversation is on the first priority. The island Praslin, Silhoutte, La Digue and the already mentioned main island Mahé offer untouched landscapes and deserted beaches.

The luxury cliché of the Seychelles is also correct. You will have also the possibility to spend your honeymoon in the same luxury classe like in Tahiti, Maui or Barbados. However you will find on the Seychelles a double tracked tourist infrastructure. It is also possible to organise your honeymoon with a normal budget. You will find a lot of luxury 5 stars resorts, a lot of private guest houses, which are formally traded as a hot trip. In our Hotel Overview you will discover some fabulous resorts and cheap bed and breakfast accommodations.

What can you do on the Seychelles? The answer is: not too much. You can discover the varied island on your own, but the Seychelles are standing for lonely beaches, which invite you for a walk and to snorkel. The beautiful landscape is a nice place to bike and to hike. If you desire nightlife, entertainment and a lot of water sport activities, we advise you to look for another honeymoon destination. It is also possible to do the classical water sports activities like diving, sailing, or windsurfing on the Seychelles.
The climate of the archipelago is tropical due to the location south of the equator and profits of a slight breeze the whole year. The south monsoon, a fresh and dry wind, blows from May to October, the north-west monsoon, from December to Mars, brings heat and moisture. The air temperature is between 25 and 29 degree for the whole year. The water temperature lies between 22 to 24 degrees.

Another advantage for the Seychelles as honeymoon location is the fact that there is only a low time difference in comparison to Europe, due to the geographic length to Europe; this means that there is no jet-lag. Another point is that due to the relative isolation in the Indian Ocean, there are no dangerous animals and tropical diseases. The air fares from Amsterdam are between 800 and 1200 €.
