Wedding Tips Tahiti/ Bora Bora
The French right is essential and this is not to overcome on bureaucracy for a not- French person. If it just a South Seas wedding you are looking for, you better choose a different destination. If it has to be French Polynesia by all means, pay attention to the following facts.
At least one of the partners has to reside in the administrative district of the relevant registrar where the wedding ceremony will take place for at least 30 days. In the case that you somehow accomplished this go at least one month ahead of your wedding with the following documents to the relevant registrar.
You need a passport, your certificate of birth as a French translation (available at your national register office), your Carte de Séjour (French registration card), your national registration card as a French Translation on which without fail has to be mentioned your family status (available at your national registration office). If you are divorced you need the divorce certificate as a French translation and the Certificate Médical Prénuptial (medical certificate). The wedding permission issued by the registrar is valid for 10 days. Two witnesses to the wedding are required for the marriage.
Our Tip for Tahiti and Co: Get officially married at home. You can come to this appointment with jeans and t-shirt. On Tahiti or its neighbour islands like Bora Bora you will breathe „I will“ then in a free wedding ceremony. Your wedding is what you feel as your wedding. Then you can get married by anyone- the captain of a yacht on a romantic voyage, the free theologian at a South Seas beach or the hotel manager in a small chapel with sea view.
