Wedding Tips Bali

It is possible to marry on Bali, a little bureaucratic but at the same time something special. A wedding here always contains a civil and a church marriage. Only that the civil marriage is not existing after Balinese law. You have the choice to marry after a Catholic, Evangelic, Buddhist, Hindu or Islamic rite.

Therefore you need the following documents:

• Copy of Passport
• Birth certificate
• Certificate of capacity to consummate a marriage from the local register office
• If you are divorced – the divorce certificate
• Six passport photos (6x4 cm), Bride and groom together on one photo (man right, woman left)
• Registration card of the hotel (form A)

Copies of the above mentioned documents have to be send to the Civil Registrar at the latest one month before the wedding. Please hand in the originals one week before the date of your marriage.

For a catholic wedding you also need:

• Certificate about the participation at a Catholic marriage guidance
• Permission of the local priest for a marriage on Bali
• Baptismal- and confirmation certificate

You just need the baptismal- and confirmation certificate for an Evangelic wedding ceremony.

Nothing else is required for a Balinese/ Hindu ceremony.

Two witnesses to a marriage have to be present at the civil marriage which is accomplished two times. You receive two marriage certificates, too.

After the marriage ceremony you must let your matrimony be registered in order to legalize it. In order to have your marriage certificate approved at home have them translated. Afterwards you have to go to your national consulate or embassy to have the veritableness of the certificate and the translation affirmed.
