The right neckline can make the difference between a wedding gown that flatters and one that falters. In this chapter we will shortly inform you about some necklines that you should have in mind while you choose your wedding dress:
There are many possibilities to choose the right neckline - from the u-shape to heart-shape, from v- shaped to strapless. Ever neckline influences the overall picture of your dress in a different way. Therefore you should know the most important necklines.
U-Shape or Bateau
This neckline goes from one shoulder to the other in form of an U respectively like an arc. The neckline can go very deep depending on how much skin should be shown. This type of neckline can be worn with almost all dresses and is works well with broad shoulders. The bateau neckline is especially appropriate for brides with large upper body, in that it distracts attention to the neck and the face.

High Collar/ Mandarin
This cut covers the décolleté completely and is mostly worn without arms. The upper body in this manner looks optically longer, whereby the dress makes a very formal and elegant impression. This cut supports every body form. Necklaces should be avoided. Ostentatious ears rings go together well.

Heart
This type of neckline received its name because it builds an arc above every breast. Therefore it looks like the upper side of a heart. It is mainly use with strapless dresses but is also to be found with a number of other dresses. The heart- neckline suits brides with a bigger bust measurement because the form lines have a supporting function. It suits small framed and well- built women as well.

Square
The square neckline has got a straight horizontal top section that meets the straps in a 90 degree angle. Due to the definite lines of the square neckline appears every dress very elegant. The straps can be sleeveless or with sleeves in every length.

Carmen (respectively) Off-The-Shoulder
With this cut the shoulders are free and the straps are positioned on the side over the shoulder and lower down. It is very elegant and a form that is often chosen as a strapless dress. This cut of dress emphasises your upper body and can be well combined with necklaces.

V-Neck
The V-neck makes the neckline fall down in a V-shape between the shoulders. This neckline can range from veiled to candid with its length- therefore it depends on how much should be revealed. The V-cut suits women well who have a smaller or a bigger bust measurement. A high “V” can for example hide big breasts. On the other hand could a woman with a smaller breast wear a deeper neckline or show a wide “V” which attracts the attention to the breast and therefore offers the illusion of a fuller breast.

Strapless
With a strapless wedding dress you need a perfectly fitting bra that gives a secure feeling all day long. Strapless corsage dresses can seem elegant and romantic as well. The form of the skirt decides over the look.

Low-backed
There are multiple possibilities for a low-backed dress. You attract appealing views with a V-neckline the same counts for a corsage that is equipped with a pearl necklace at the corners and it should give you a secure feeling. The low-backed edge is the best for brides who would like to show their arms and shoulders. If you want to cover your arms you should choose a different shape. You can wear this type of edge with all kinds of dresses.

Halter Neck
In this case the straps of the upper part are knotted or clipped together. The back and the shoulders are laid completely free. This cut is also well known as holder neck or free back. All these names mean the same – the closing is at the neck. This cut is not appropriate for brides with strong upper arms or shoulders!
